Why am I here?
Loving you best, Mental healthCan it be that at some point in life we get so uncertain about our existence we question it?
Why am I here?
What difference do I make?
What is the point of all of this?
I am not referring to the feeling of not knowing one's purpose.
I am talking about that feeling of emptiness that despair cannot even reach.
It is way more common than you could imagine.
One day last year I was on a social media platform and just on that one day I kept seeing one thing, one feeling, one mood expressed by many people.
The feeling of nothing, emptiness, lack of joy and motivation. The concept of 'living' was not appealing to them.
Is it okay to feel like this? No not at all. Do we feel like this? Well this is a question I am asking you.
If you are saying yes, there is a journey for you to embark on whether you feel to or not.
First understand you are not an anomaly, you are not alone.
When I once felt like this it took and required a big oompf of will.
You have to consciously make effort to feel something else and at first you will fight whatever is inside of you. This is because you will begin to take notice of who you are, what you want, what makes you happier, what makes you want to wake up and be here more everyday. Everyone's experience will look different but here are some tips on getting the process going.
-Start to take care of your body. Start to nourish. Start to exercise and eat well, rest and pamper. No matter what you feel it will send back a message that you have the ability to make yourself appear and feel better. Instead of letting emotions control you, choose to get up and do something for yourself, a form of self-love.
- Cleanse what you consume on the internet. Following and unfollowing. Your time limit per day.
We are a generation that constantly use twitter, instagram, snapchat and more. My sister once said to me, what we consume in 1 day we used to consume over the span of a year. We are not living and condition ourselves if we spend crazy amounts of time consuming how other people feel. Especially if you are in a mentally weak position, you need to actively protect your mind at all costs.
- Prayer- you may not be religious or have faith but this took me out of the pits of where I was. I understand that God wants only good things for me and has a love like no other. This action brought me hope as I spoke what I wanted into existence. So start declaring what life will be for yourself and believe it.
- Writing
What is your form of expression? I write. I enjoy it and when I am unsure I get the thoughts out of my mind onto something visible. This is my release. What is yours? I could say go to the gym and burn it off but you unfortunately do not get out any words/pictures of what is going on in your mind. This process involves you getting your thoughts out. Another way can be therapy which is great or even a trusted person calling you once a week to unload. Find which method suits you best...maybe a bit of both?
I hope that when you embark on this journey you can look back and be filled with joy that you chose yourself.
